  • Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin and fine disposable needles into a network of energetic pathways that are referred to as channels.  Through the manipulation of these needles, healing is initiated, and balance is restored to the body-mind spectrum. Often recipients of acupuncture feel relaxed, pain relief, and improvements immediately after a session.

  • Restorative medicine is one of the highlights of MJC Energetics and its dedication to not only treating medical conditions but to optimize the healing potential of each of its clients/patients toward a greater sense of wellbeing.  Our approach is to facilitate a proactive commitment from the client/patient in making better choices in their lives that will impact their health, ranging from diet, exercise, and the use of Chinese medicine.  It is the goal of MJC Energetics to foster the regenerative capacity of their clients/patients in ongoing renewal of a vibrant life.

  • Sports Medicine, in the context of Chinese medicine, uses the sinew channels as the cumulation of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels and bones.

Chinese Sports Medicine is an effective treatment modality for orthopedic injuries and its classical treatment approach is beyond the generalized training taught in physical therapy and sports injury rehabilitation. Integrating with Western anatomy and physiology, Chinese Sports Medicine synthesized the teachings from classical medical traditions of wai ke (external medicine), die dat (orthopedics), and wu shu (martial arts) allowing for advanced training into the living surface anatomy of the tissues (ji rou) and organs (zang fu). Applying the sinew channels, in conjunction with restorative modalities such as muscle releases, bone setting, moxibustion, medicinal soaks, gua sha and cupping, can enhance the healing and rehabilitation of injuries and optimize sports performance. Clinically, I have witnessed enhanced recovery time of sprains, strains, and fractured bones, as well as correcting muscular skeletal conditions such as scoliosis, osteo/rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and more.

  • Vibrational Medicine is based on the energetics of frequencies emitted through sound, color/light, and scent to heal the body from injury and illness. These vibrational agents are a sensory modality that ignites a response from the body’s cerebral and adaptive domain.

Light therapy utilizes many different colors and wavelengths to encourage a physiological response provoked by the color applied topically over an area or acupuncture point. Contemporary applications include the use of near- and far-infrared light therapy to upgrade mitochondria (burn fat), improve immunological functions, and encourage angiogenesis for the production of new blood cells, and fostering healing of sports injuries. Color Therapy, referred to as chromotherapy, is vast in its application of treating physical and neurological issues.

Sound Therapy, often preformed with hertz frequencies via tuning forks and singing bowls, treats a wide variety of conditions relating to bone, ligaments, and nerve health/regeneration.

Scent Therapy, known as perfumes and aromatherapy, fosters the treatment of neuromuscular plasticity with its topical application while also involving brain recognition through the aroma/smell that it exudes. This modality targeting the brain is referred to as Inhalation Therapy aimed at neurological conditions via the pathway of smells that directly links the brain (olfactory bulb straight to the amygdala). Topical application, i.e. essential oil blend, plaster, or liniment placed on the body, is also used and by virtue contributes to neuromuscular health and releases. Many chronic conditions will linger until the brain/body is ready to change how it senses the afflicting condition. Aromatherapy therapy honors that the body-mind-spirit as one, and not separate of each another.

Furthermore, the lens in which we choose to see through affect the way we see the world, which resonates with and provokes how we feel and respond to what we see. Similarly, the sounds we hear can promote a physical response from the body through high and low pitch frequencies, music, or conversation (pure or biased conversation). Scent therapy has a direct link to the environment we are in which can create an immediate resolution triggered by the brain, DNA/marrow, and constitution.

From the healing frequencies of light, sound, and scent, these modalities of Vibrational Medicine can facilitate deeper healing and awareness to the environment and impact how we chose to thrive or even survive.

  • Microneedling, also known as collagen-induction therapy, is a nonsurgical procedure designed to enhance the appearance of your skin. It involves the use of tiny needles that penetrate the skin's surface, stimulating collagen production and improving its overall texture and tone. This comprehensive treatment encompasses microneedling, nano needling, cosmetic acupuncture, and light therapy, all aimed at skin rejuvenation, hair growth, and healthy aging. Studies have demonstrated that microneedling delivers more effective, safer, and longer-lasting results compared to Botox.

  • Though herbal medicine is the forerunner of pharmaceutical drugs, it focuses primarily on the whole aspects of plants rather than its specific constituents. Unique to Chinese herbal medicine is its custom-tailored approach based on the individual instead of his/her disease/condition. Herbs can be administered as decoctions, granules, and/or capsules accordant to the individual’s compliance and needs.

  • Chinese Dietary Therapy considers various pertinent factors, such as the season, age, gender, ethnicity, and local geography, in designing therapeutic food combinations and menus for an individual to follow for wellness or illness. Recognizing food as one of the most essential foundations of life, clients are educated on the importance of food and their role in fostering healing.  Diet plans are constructed based the bioavailability of nutrients from different methods of cooking or preserving, taste thresholds, raw or cooked feasibility, and meal schedule.

  • Essential oils are very potent antimicrobial and immune-enhancing agents that can be utilized for infections and inflammation. Administered via inhalation, wash, or topically, they can be absorbed internally for a wide variety of health-related issues, including psycho-mental states due to the direct effect of the aroma upon the brain. In addition, these aromatic blends can be used for preventative care during times of infections and are pleasant for all ages.

  • The burning of Artemisia Vulgaris (Mugwort) over an area or acupuncture point (direct or non-direct) is a time-honored practice in Chinese medicine. Aside from its warming quality, the herb has been found to promote immunity, improve circulation, and relieve pain. Its fumigating aspect has also been found to be a deterrent for pestilence and a purifying agent to induce a healing space.

  • The practice of scraping the skin or the use of cupping over the tissue promotes blood circulation to areas that inadvertently have little blood supply (e.g., joints) which can render the healing process to be slow. By invigorating blood and sensation to an area, guasha and cupping can speed up restoration and improve rehabilitation of injuries and neurological weaknesses. Guasha and cupping can also release tight bands of muscles and promote the release of toxins.

  • Tui Na refers to Chinese massage therapy and is a forerunner of Western massage and chiropractics. Focusing on specific hand techniques that are applied to various areas and acupoints of the body, these techniques can facilitate realignment of joints and tissues, induce relaxation, improve mobility, and strengthen both surface and internal anatomy. In addition, tui na can assist in pre- and post-workout of athletes to increase their performance, prevent injuries, and reduce recovery time.

  • LithoPuncture is an innovative approach combining minerals and stones to the therapeutics of acupuncture and acupressure. The idea of LithoPuncture involves the application of stone medicine on an acupuncture point treatment model for one’s healing and restoration, while giving reverence to early Chinese medical roots, along with the acknowledgment of Western constitutional “mineral therapy”.

What Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Treat

Classical Chinese Medicine has the vast ability of rendering effective treatments in all aspects of clinical healthcare, ranging from prevention to rehabilitation and palliative care.  As clinicians trained in Chinese medicine, we practice a client-centered approach towards treating the individual and his/her specific condition and presentations.

Our medical evaluation includes:

  • A thorough intake of medical history

  • Observation of body posture/movement, complexion, and tongue.

  •  Palpation of anatomical regions, channels, and pulses.

  •  Asking pertinent questions pertaining to the individual’s lifestyle (such as exercises, diet, sleep), signs and symptoms, and emotional/mental state.

  • Listening intently to the client’s narrative.

  • Detecting any discernible voice tones, odors, or areas of discoloration.

Chinese medicine has been found to be effective in treating a host of medical conditions, including chronic degenerative diseases, inflammatory conditions, and immunological issues (such as auto-immunity or immune-deficiency). Each and every modality in Chinese medicine, whether acupuncture, herbal medicine, or dietary therapy, are considered comprehensive on its own in supporting the individual towards health and wellness.

Please contact us if you have questions about any specific condition and how we may provide guidance and treatment.

What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese medicine is a time-tested tradition that seeks to initiate balance, prevent diseases, restore health, and treat illness through various treatment modalities, ranging from acupuncture to the use of herbs. Based on a client-centered approach, the clinician works with patients to unravel their resources and motivate them toward healing. Emphasizing on qi (lifeforce, vitality, energy), Chinese medicine recognizes how this qi can be impacted from exogenous factors to internal thoughts/emotions and the congenital predispositions. Targeting and treating these potential etiologies afford the clinician and patients to make crucial lifestyle choices in healing and wellness.

As a paradigm, Chinese medicine can offer a classical approach with innovative care and new solutions to medical concerns.
